Visual Language - Composition

This weeks task we looked to create an image with a sense of depth.

through creating roughs, - soon realised i was creating the images too balanced again! i then began to exaggerate sizes and make aspects larger in the frame.

- hover  i still feel as though i should have filled more of the space! - puffin larger in the frame. I guess in future i need to refer to the roughs more, making sure that the composition is correct. Although the time limit forced me to work quicker, - i think perhaps this time it was why i became a bit careless when measuring out the final composition.

I have begun to really enjoy working in coloured pencil, and have found i can create some really lovely textures - I like applying it lightly in a way that gradually builds up tone, - sort of a feathered effect, rather than working in one flat block colour. i aimed to use different pencil strokes to represent different areas of moment - i.e., the feathers on the puffin are different to the marks representing the sea. - adding more interest. In some area I feel that i built up too much and could have left lighter areas of tone - have helped to exaggerate depth.
