Visual Language - Line Of Sight

When drawing the roughs for 'Line of sight' I immediately began to think about creating a strong perspective in the image, I think my final arrangement has been successful in achieving this. the trains dramatic decrease in size, from foreground to background draws attention, and leads the eye across the image.

Like past weeks, I also found sketching roughs helpful particularly in creating quite a technical image. By rearranging compositions and perspective, i was able to create an effective line of sight and a more proportionally correct image. - however i did find that this took me some time to achieve the right perspective. One of the biggest challenges was getting the positioning and the direction of the lines correct to create a sense of depth. - if one was off the whole image would look less convincing.

However I do think my choice of media let down the final image. I chose to work in watercolour. which i have come to regret, or at least the way in which i used it. perhaps it would have worked better using looser marks, and simpler forms. the details feel clumsy and distracting from the line of sight.

I think using block colour with something like gouache would have been more appropriate. From talking in the session I realised I also could have made better use of negative space,If redoing the image i would have defiantly considered this more to create a more balanced image. / and the perspective clearer.
