i feel quite comfortable at this point as i have really enjoyed responding visually to my author. Ive felt really inspired and come up with interesting compositions that i feel could have the potential for finals.
- i began sketching out some rough compositions developing or building up on existing concepts and ideas. - alternate view points, considering blending aspects of one or more idea perhaps.
- looking back perhaps it would have been useful to create these in a border - but i m still unsure on the dimensions i want so don't want to limit anything... i think they are all actually adaptable to almost any size so that shouldn't be a problem.
- As I've said previously all my designs at this point are evolved very much around the story, the charters, and nature. - i don't have a worry about the prints not connecting because already all my work at this point fits within this theme.
- consider then that I want them to be different enough. - if all are featuring the landscape then make sure its expressing a different point. - not too much of the same.?
- or perhaps would work well following the same - i.e. 'no escape' - but represented quite differently.
-Struggling to choose final ideas - quite a lot of variations. - however i do know one definite composition. - thats the face - 'open wide'.
- this is a composition that i have not really altered much - but once that i instantly like, i feel that its already strong, and really just needs to be adapted for the lino and mono print.
- positive feedback from this image - visually striking, bold.
- if this turns out to be good enough quality then the lino could be used for my final prints.
- Represents the dark journey of the characters. - their guilt. - being trapped by a landscape thats chasing them - Ive enjoyed the concept of bringing the landscape setting to life - creating more of a physical and threatening presence makes the idea more terrifying. Representing how they cannot escape the terrible things they have committed. It haunts them for a long time. and eventually devours their inner self.
- More specifically - Although this is my first final , i think this print could potentially be the final in a part of a series. Could tell a narrative?
- The image represents - the kind of end of their journey - devoured by the landscape - theres no return, - the final consequences. - perhaps the other two finals could focus around their journey to this point?
- i.e., -the murder, transforming themselves, hallucinations, - leading to - guilt, isolation, running away, being trapped by the landscape. - consider the idea of a series - the order of a narrative when considering the other two.
- Developed for lino.
- i wanted to keep the block black, but i also wanted to bring in some smaller details describing the shape and tone on her face which i actually think has worked pretty effectively. - in the lino i'll create more refined edges.
- my a lot of my designs feature silhouettes in the foreground - which i think translate really well into the lino. i have left quite a lot of space for the surrounding landscape. - the plan is this will be in mono print.
- I enjoyed digitalising the work - do some more tests? more finalised finish. loose some texture though?
