Book design inspiration

When looking into past winners of the competition, i have been hugely inspired. Its really interesting to see such a variety of cover design, - they're work has showed me such a broad range of approaches to book cover design, and in viewing they're work i have picked up on things i may not have previously considered.

- I really like this example where type meets illustration beautifully. Its a really cohesive way to bring imagery and text together.

Bold, striking imagery, - sure to capture attention. Intruiging design.

- Some are mainly type based - these are often the most simple covers yet so striking. - sometimes simplicity is best - with a single element drawing the eye.

- Such a wonderfully detailed illustrated depiction of the novel. It would be hard not to looks at this beauty of a cover.

Other design inspiration for the project;

Absolutly love the texture, and childish quality to this colour book cover by Karl James Mountford. the layering of texture, and soft tones work beautifully.

The two above are by amazing artist Edel Rodriguez. again i was really drawn to the texture in these pieces. And the use of bold shape, colour and negative space.
