Development of ideas

Developing my ideas. - I began to focus down on the information to include in the frame. - close up to the subjects - looking at important details that would represent that location and celebration well - unique to that place? are these strongly informative? details such as; Clothing, Jewellery, makeup, patterns, objects.
- Didn't want the imagery to be instantly recognisable - but intriguing. On a closer look - see relevant details 'clues' as to where /what it could be representing.
- Although the postcards could be quite abstract - and have subtle relations to each location, i still wanted the content to be recognised - the visual information to be clear and understood. - its about picking out the most relevant and telling information to include.

From this initial idea -

- still continuing to exhaust roughs - focus down in information. - considering what else could be in the frame to inform the viewer?? - really like the close up compositions.

Thialand buddah. - considering how to incorporate the heart of the city. - what represents it. - including an illustration within the body. perhaps this is too complicated?

Simplified down message. - think this close up is quite a powerful and telling composition. - so far close ups have been more effective. - continue.

INCLUDE INITIAL MONK

- i think that this is perhaps one of my favourite compositions. - its striking, and clear. - the hands and face have been my most focused on aspects, so i like the idea of incorporating both. - think they're really telling. I like how the hands give me the opportunity to display something to do with that celebration - i.e. prayer beads - another clue to location.

- After developing a few ideas - i have decided on final locations and festivities;
- "festival of the dead" - New Mexico, Mexico
- Diwali - 'Festival of light' - india
- Carnival - Masks - Vienna, Italy
- Monks Prayer ceremony - Chiang Mai - Thailand.

- Other than working out the content of each, now is the time to consider developing a final composition. This is something i wrestled with for a while. - i had to decide how to link each postcard visually, so they worked as a set. It was difficult to think about how each place could be described from the same arrangement.

- drawn out for illustrator. - added details in areas to act as a guide. - i enjoyed editing with the pen tool - so the outline needed to be pretty accurate in order to create a successful image.

- Felt that this composition was the most successful, and turned out to be very adaptable to all themes. I'm really pleased that i have chosen to go with the same arrangement in each - they work much better as a set.

- Im pleased with the final composition - after reviewing some of my favourite arrangements, - one included a face, and another, hands, - i compromised and created a combination of the two. - I think that in the decision to include both i have created a good balance. - not too vague, - a more engaging and informative image.
