Stamps Final.
- Final compositions - lips, eye - including famous fringe, bust, and legs/shoes. - feel that these are all good representations of Bettie Page, - although cropped in closely, they're relatable to her image.
- So i decided to create these digitally. - I have enjoyed incorporating photoshop into my work, but would like to try using it more frequently. I wanted this piece to be predominantly digital. - challenge my skills. - i would like to become more comfortable when incorporating photoshop into my practice.
- drew out basic shapes - better quality proportions.
- scanned in to photoshop. - began by going around the shapes iwht lasso tool splitting into block shapes but wasn't happy with the outcome.
- started to experiment with brushes and adding different effects. - i really enjoyed using different brushes - as i haven't really experimented with many. Found i could create some interesting textures. - really like the use of simple flat colour - but also i love how the use of this brush brings a certain amount of detail to the image.
- I enjoyed building up tone with the brush - altering opacity sometimes. like that it doesn't give a slid edge - its interesting - more of a natural fade/transition between shades of colour.
- using my Wacom tablet turned out to be really beneficial. - have struggled in the past to add detail with a mouse, but this way is so much easier! i will definitely be trying this again in the future. much more successful.
- used the slight pencil shading as a guide - created a new layer over the top to paint on. - in future try and do without shading in pencil.
- i felt really limited with time when attempting these, and feel that they could have been done better, but overall am please considering i didn't spend that much time. I could have attempted these on illustrator perhaps - would have enjoyed employing these skills again.
- like the colours - trying to tie all three to a similar colour scheme. - even though in a different media - i think this similarity means they work as a set.
- perhaps these two could have been more zoomed in. - as though they could all make up the same sizes body. - closer ups are more striking perhaps.
- These compositions are much more successful in my opinion. - the close ups. More provocative and intriguing . - Although not as conceptually strong as the others, theres still a certain sense of mystery - a questioning of whats in the image - not overly obvious.
- Parts of her are exposed but only some. - perhaps again representing her shy side - unwilling
