- i have one final - sloth sleeping, with the sky changing from day-night. I needed to create two more that would work as a set along side this. - Wanted to show different sides to the sloth - thinking about his personality.
- second Gif storyboard. - Sloth eating. - sloths are lazy this is a big part of their daily routine. i wanted to show this in a friendly and comical way. - close up to the chosen sloth face.
- third sloth. - a slightly more active this time. - sloths are also known for being clumsy, as wanted to show him hanging from a tree, sleeping before falling and hanging on with one claw.
I am happy with the compositions, and feel all three work well as a set to show the different personalities of Sid the sloth.
now i had my final, i felt it was quite useful to plan each one out frame by frame. This helped me get my head around the process, but ultimately thought a lot of this would be better done in the production of each gif; I felt it would be beneficial to start making the final imagery asap.
- I did a little more development on my sloth character as i was still deciding on what media approach to take. I also wanted to finalise his image.
- will it be the same media and process throughout? Will i approach each in a similar way or totally different?
- I have really enjoyed creating textures, and have decided to continue working in this way for my final 3 GIF's.
- I want to create similar textures throughout all three, but with the use of different media. - coloured pencil - has worked well for building up tone and depth, dry brush and paint. - some expressive mark making. - watercolour. - some beautiful gradients. i think these textures reflect the character and setting of rainforest appropriately.
Each will be different but work well as a set. - will be using the same process of cutting up and layering the textures in photoshop.
- textures inspired by children's book the hungry caterpillar. i imagine my gifs purpose would be to entertain/appeal to a younger audience.
- I continued to play around with media; creating a textured sloth, scanning and editing digitally to get an idea of how it could look.
- scanning in tests to experiment digitally. - altering colour, hue/sacturation. - like the finished quality.
